Michael Stevenson, chief executive officer of Murphy Medical Center, announced the addition of Dr. Eric Scott Sills as its newest OB/GYN. Sills began seeing patients Monday at his office, Murphy Women’s Center, at 75 Medical Park Lane, Suite D, next to the hospital.
Stevenson said the staff welcomes Sills to the Murphy Medical team.
“Dr. Sills is an award-winning doctor and brings a wealth of experience in obstetrics and gynecology,” Stevenson said.
“His sub-specialty training in reproductive medicine enables us to include more sophisticated treatments for infertility and miscarriage.”
A native of Harriman, Tennessee, Sills is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. He studied medicine at the University of Tennessee and his OB/GYN residency was at New York University Downtown Hospital in Manhattan. Sills then completed a reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at Cornell University.
As an OB/GYN with additional training in complex reproductive surgery, Sills’ clinical interests include infertility medicine, prenatal care, endometriosis, advanced laparoscopy, polycystic ovary syndrome and treatments for miscarriage.
Sills is board certified in OB/GYN and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Having published more than 50 academic papers on a wide range of women’s health issues, Sills is the only living OB/GYN in the world to have authored scholarly manuscripts with both a member of the U.S. Congress and British Parliament. In 2004, he was named editor in chief of the Journal of Experimental & Clinical Assisted Reproduction.
“Murphy Medical Center is a superb hospital and a great resource for this community,” Sills said. “I’m eager to get closer to home and become a part of this outstanding medical family.”
