(Context Tag: Cherokee County NC) Okay, conference goers! We heard you loud and clear...

Bring back Sarah and her powder puff mechanics session!

This is one of the most popular sessions we have presented at our conference, and there was a huge outcry last year because Sarah was not with us in 2004. Well, she's back now, and you can learn all her tricks of the trade! This session takes place out in the parking lot, and don't worry... Sarah is the only one who gets greasy. Join Sarah to learn tips that will save you money, and maybe even your life.

When Sarah Jones decided to become a stay-at-home mom, she found that not only could she not afford a new car, she could not even afford for a mechanic to fix the car she did have. So, she decided to return to school and become a mechanic! Sarah found that she has a real knack for diagnosing and repairing cars and trucks, and, in 2002, she graduated with honors in Automobile Technology from Tri-County Community College. She was only the second female to graduate the program in the last 10 years.

Sarah is a technician for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and enjoys the challenge of diagnosing and repairing the NC State trucks and construction equipment.

The Cherokee County Airport Commission is pleased to announce the return of the Celebration of Flight Airshow on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at the Andrews-Murphy Airport. Over 7,000 people turned out for the airshow in 2003, the first held in over 30 years at the Cherokee County, NC regional airport. Airshow committee chairman Steve Vicknair is excited about the plans underway for this year's big event. "We were overwhelmed by the response to last year's airshow, and a fantastic program is already shaping up for 2004. Aviation enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy the awesome sights and sounds of the day, set in peak leaf season of the beautiful far western North Carolina mountains," said Vicknair.

Mark your calendar now to fly in or drive in for the October 23 Celebration of Flight Airshow. Presenting a diverse array of vintage to high tech aircraft, the one-day show includes static displays, demonstrations, flyovers, full aerobatic shows and the Black Daggers parachute team. Representing the civilian, military and public service sectors, the pilots and ground crews are as impressive as the aircrafts they control. The Young Eagles ground program, Smoky Mountain Aero plane rides, hot air balloon rides, food vendors and aviation vendors add to the festivities. It's definitely a day for camera buffs, and a memorable experience to be enjoyed with friends and family.

Airshow admission is $5 for adults and free for children age 12 and under. The gates will open at 9:00 a.m., with airshow performances concluding by 4:00 p.m. Limited on-site parking and off-site park and shuttle services are free. Produced in cooperation with David Schultz Airshows, the airshow program will continue to develop between now and October. For more information, visit the airshow at www.schultzairshows.com/andrewsnc2004.htm and check back often for the latest updates and Celebration of Flight details.
